About Warehouse Studio Theatre

2010

In 2010, Warehouse Performing Arts Center opened its Cornelius doors in order to fill a community need: A local theatrical venue where professionally-trained theatre artists could create adventurous, entertaining theatre in an intimate space. For almost ten years, WPAC produced high-quality theatre up-close and personal, providing local audiences a connection to shows relevant within our national theatre scene.

In its 60-seat black box home, Warehouse PAC became known for its thought-provoking, high quality intimate shows, mounting such productions as The Explorer's Club by Nell Benjamin, Bug by Tracy Letts,  Ripcord & Wonder of the World by David Lindsay-Abaire, Constellations by Nick Payne, The Roommate by Jen Silverman, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC by Halley Feiffer among many others. The creative team of Ben Pierce and Jessica Zingher launched Warehouse's "Shakepeare on the Rocks," mounting Midsummer and As You Like It "with a TWIST."

2017

In 2017, Warehouse PAC took two shows on tour, Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche by Evan Linder and Andrew Hobgood (Stage Door Theatre) and Sex With Strangers by Laura Eason (Duke Energy Theatre). Covid hit and we closed our doors in 2019.

In 2021, we resumed productions as an itinerant company with Sweat by Lynn Nottage at both Oak Street Mill's Eventive (LKN) and Duke Energy Theatre (Charlotte.) While it was exciting to explore new spaces, we missed our black box home.

2022

2023/24

In 2022, the company joined forces with area professional theatre makers to shift the scope and focus into Charlotte Conservatory Theatre. Our mission: To expand resources and awareness for local professional theatre artists to create excellent work for Greater Charlotte.  For more information about Charlotte Conservatory & this mission, click here.

Charlotte Conservatory produced Witch by Jen Silverman as its inaugural production at Booth Playhouse in 2022. In 2023, CCT went on to produce POTUS by Selena Fillinger (Booth & Cain) and A Doll's House, Part II by Lucas Hnath at the Mint Museum's Van Every Theatre. In 2024, CCT continued programing at Booth Theatre with Leaving Watermaine by local playwright, N. Nelson-Ewing--a new play and world premiere. CCT won Metrolina Theatre Association's Outstanding Production in both 2023 for POTUS and in 2024 for Leaving Watermaine.

2025

RENEWED SPACE!  In March of 2025, after producing Bess Wohl's Continuity at the Mint Museum, the original Warehouse PAC space became available. We have revamped the space for Warehouse 2.0, now Warehouse Studio Theatre, and we look forward to reconnecting with our community and providing locally-crafted, excellent shows.  WST: Your home for live theatre.
